The Fashionable Bride

Is it every girls dream to marry in a Vera Wang dress? One thing that’s certain is that you may not have a crazy war with your best friend like in Bride Wars, but you will fight against yourself in what dress to choose for your special day. The dream dress you had in mind as a kid doesn’t always fit the body you have as an adult.

Nonetheless everyone wants to be a fashionable bride and there are limitless choices.

There is the simple dress with just the right amount of detail!

The architectural gown, that keeps your eyes moving!

Architectural Dress

The extravagant!

Just lounging about in my extravagant gown, nbd, lemme just open the curtains, that's a normal thing people do in gowns, right?

The goth bride…very slimming!

Inspiration: I do adore Vera Wang's style. Here is a black lace and chiffon halter dress with intricate bare back. Could be done with deep purple.

The bride to be in red!

Double red…just beautiful.

Scarlet mermaid gown with tiered, micro-bias bodice and inverted flange skirt with abstract floral shoulder corsage detail.

The oxblood wedding dress.

Burgundy Vera Wang wedding dress #Oxblood DEEP red #Oxblood #Wine Colour Weddings #burgundy #plum

Isn’t this dreamy?

Hokey moley look at the split in that! For a wedding dress! You'd definitely have to wear your garter on the other leg.

There are so many options when choosing a wedding dress, it’s almost easier to have a budget in mind before you begin your quest. If not you might find yourself way over budget with a $20,000 gown. Which one is your fave?

Don’t Judge A Woman by Her Perfume…Bottle

Should we buy perfume for the scent or for the fabulous bottle it comes in?

Jimmy Choo Perfume: Looks like a grenade! Total edge!

Lady Gaga: The fluid is black until you spray it!

Marc Jacobs Lady Bug Bottle…super cute!

Another unique bottle by Marc Jacobs: Lola

Katy Perry’s pink and purple cats…makes us want to purrrrrr!

Nikki Minaj’s Pink Friday…should we buy a pink wig or the perfume?

The cooler the bottle looks, the more attention it gets over all the rest! But shouldn’t we buy perfume based off of the scent and not the bottle? Wonder how this really plays out in sales–if anything, it’s great marketing. And after you use up the perfume, you can add the bottle to your favorite celebrity shrine…or maybe not.

Needless to say, these bottles are cute and unique but we’re not looking for a bottle, we want something that will leave a lasting impression as we enter, linger and leave a room!

Simplicity has a lasting impression.

Chanel No. 5: Will always pass the test of time!

What’s your favorite perfume?

Be Innovative…or Not?

By Karen Minor

Sometimes fashion takes an unpredictable turn–is it missing the mark or just really trying to stand apart from the crowd? Nina Garcia is always saying “be innovative,” but is there a thin line between outrageously ridiculous and being innovative?

I am curious to see how these Celine mink pumps make their way across the globe from runway to everyday wear.

But I am not sure how it will translate in “real life.” Now if I saw Beyonce rocking these in a video, I am sure it would be just the right bit of out-of-the-ordinary that would ooze nothing but CREATIVITY. So maybe these shoes are just attention-getters…nothing more, nothing less!

I guess for everyday, wearing a touch a mink adds a little something extra to a pair ordinary pumps.

The one big plus about about the Celine mink shoes, is that you can wear the mink sandals beyond the summer months…mink in the summer is an epic turn in footwear! Just kidding!

I am curious to see how this translates and if I will be one to try on a pair of mink pumps!

Still Wooing Over the Oscars…

By Karen Minor

Take a look at my Oscar favorites! After a while this all becomes overkill and you just want the Oscars to go away but when dresses woo you, you can’t help but to keep gushing over who wore what!

I am totally in love with beaded dresses, I just love the over the top details!

There you have it…your last awards season post from us. Until next year at least! Which designers were your favorite?

What Kind of Valentine Are You?

Are you the type that requires a new dress, a fancy restaurant and flowers to fill an entire room?

Maybe you’re the low key Valentine that just wants to be home to cuddle with your lover–a nice dinner at home will do.

Could you be the “I couldn’t care less about another holiday!” type?

Or the “He still hasn’t put a ring on it! December has passed, New Year’s has passed, he better propose on Valentine’s Day?!” type?

Or, are your girlfriends your Valentine, popping open a bottle of bubbly to being single, fabulous, and loving it?

Whichever one you are, Valentine’s Day is simply a day to say ” I love you” to all those special people in your life!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

What will Our First Lady Wear Today?

Designer sketches for Michelle Obama to wear at Inauguration

By Karen Minor

Happy Inauguration Day! We all have been waiting for this day, mainly to celebrate President Obama’s second term but also to see what designer the First Lady Michelle Obama is going to choose.

Let’s take a look at the WWD Inaugural Gown Predictions Vote. The results aren’t in yet but I am not too thrilled about these choices.

Also, WWD asked designers such as Chanel, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, to name a few, to sketch what they would think she would wear for the big night (above).

But in the end, it’s these 20 lucky designers who were asked to submit gowns to the East Wing of the White House for consideration:

  • Michael Kors
  • Derek Lam
  • Naeem Khan
  • Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig
  • Prabal Gurung
  • Jason Wu
  • Bibhu Mohapatra
  • Thakoon Panichgul
  • Tracy Reese
  • Chris Benz
  • Tory Burch
  • Narciso Rodriguez
  • Zac Posen
  • Maria Cornejo
  • Thom Browne
  • Barbara Tfank
  • Laura Smalls

I would love it if Tracy Reese designed a gown for either our First Lady or the First Daughters! I just love her designs. Or even a lovely Marchesa gown…I think I am just getting to excited about all the great possibilities this list provides us!

Whichever dress and designer our  stylish First Lady decides to go with, she won’t disappoint our anxious hearts. I mean she did just surprise us with her cute bangs!

Whatever she decides to wear, I know she will look just as beautiful and stylish as she did  four years ago!

So who will it be? What will she choose? Let us know and see if your prediction is right.

We’re counting down the hours…before we know it, we will all be in awe and at last the suspense will be over!

A Simple Makeup Upgrade

By Karen Minor

What better way to start this year off with an upgraded you! I always say making a small change is better than trying to make some unrealistic big change, that in all honesty after January you’re back to square one. Making subtle changes and then building on those is the best way to make long lasting changes.

Now back to the real purpose of this post… Upgrading yourself can mean a lot of things–new hairstyle, new make-up, wearing high heels instead of flats everyday! I mean make your choice…what’s your upgrade? I say the easiest simplest way to make a little change for the new year is in makeup! Add a few new things to your routine! If you’re not a makeup girl, then it’s best to just start little.

Here are some little tricks to making a little change:

MASCARA: MAC has a new mascara that when I tried it on, it was an instant eye lift to my eyes! It’s a well spent $20 bucks! I mean the name sums it up: Extreme Dimension Lash

And now for another “upgrade me ” selection for the year. Fergie’s Bronzers for Wet&Wild! OMGAAAA! LOVE! And you can’t beat the price!

See, making small changes to your makeup bag can make all the difference in a new year! Just add a few little things to your everyday look and you will be amazed at the results!

Enjoy the upgraded new you in the new year!

What Did You Snag!

By Ms. Karen Minor

For the past couple of months we all waited in great anticipation to see what the Nieman Marcus Target collection had to offer this holiday season! Although I didn’t purchase a thing, I was still up at 8:00 am, on Twitter seeing what was unfolding. It was just like I was there, like I was watching a movie. I followed Nieman Marcus on Twitter, as each location tweeted pics!

And if you’re like me and missed the big shebang, let me show you what it was all about through the eyes of other bloggers and Nieman Marcus twit pics!

Neiman Marcus opened their doors with a hot chocolate bar and cookies!

My Favorite Tangerine Tango Swap Item!

By Karen Minor

I absolutely loved the Tangerine Tango Swap! There were so many bags of  fabulous clothing coming in that we couldn’t keep up with the folding and the hanging! Although I was part of the Dewdrop team, I still brought in 5 items to swap for 5 new to me items! I almost forgot to swap until I was reminded to do so. And at the moment I saw this beautiful shirt just sitting nicely mixed in with some other stuff. I pulled it up to me and it was actually too long to be a shirt  but then I realized I could totally belt it and turn it into a cute little dress.  The benefits of being short!

I loved watching all the ladies of the day shop the swap and meeting new faces is always a plus! Even putting a blog to a face was great as well!

I am so looking forward to the next swap! And if you didn’t make it to this one I am looking forward to meeting you at the next  time!

Happy Styling everyone!
