Glitter Glam Swap & Shop Recap!

by Kimberly Wan

We closed out the Hillyer Art Space with a great turnout this past Saturday! Dewdrop turned one with the Glitter Glam Swap and Shop and the mood matched the theme of the event. Fashionistas wore their sparkly holiday frocks and the place was filled with  festive energy. People came armed to the swap with rolling suitcases full of clothes and were wired on Redbull, cute Red Velvet cupcakes and to-die-for Sweet Destiny Boutique Bakery truffles during the wait for the much-anticipated fashion show. With glitter and excitement in the air, blogger-models from their blogs, Naja Diamond, District Sparkle, and Pich and Roor, rocked the runway showing off their glitzy outfits perfect for the holiday season. Followed by the show was the raffle, where three lucky attendees got to win beautiful bags from Hobo and a buffalo bone cuff from Lou Lou Boutiques. Then the clock struck four, and the swap began. Upon walking into the swap area, people had already been eyeing some beautiful additions for their closets, so immediately the swap area was transformed into a giant dressing room, where people offered compliments about each others great finds. After everyone had strolled around the tables more than once, they migrated to the lovely pop-up shops where the vendors of Bella Contessa JewelryCarnelian BoutiqueCloset JunkieEE CuffsElan Renegade VintageEsther Woo VintageGigee MarieRossi ModoSyreeta CFrench Toast Vintage, and The Glamour Mill had all their wonderful custom designs displayed. A nice surprise was the two-tiered birthday cake from Sweet Destiny Boutique Bakery–it was so beautiful and how sweet of them to think of Dewdrop’s birthday!

Of course we wanted to spread the holiday cheer to those in need, so a portion of the proceeds in ticket sales were donated to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief, and the rest of the clothing were donated to the Goodwill of the greater DC area.

Here are some nice recap posts from other bloggers: Heart, Print and Style, Naja Diamond, and Emily Kate Hargrove.

We were so thrilled to have our friends come celebrate the holiday season and Dewdrop’s first birthday with us, and we are looking forward to many more birthdays to come!
