Beaded Bracelet by Brown Sugar Designs

Where do you get your inspiration?
I’ve been making jewelry since I was a little girl and a few years ago I felt the need to get back to my creative roots.  I get my inspiration from the beads, I let the colors speak to me.  I get a lot of my inspiration from my girlfriends and their different styles and personalities—I like to create designs that I know that they would love.

When and how did your company come to life?
I have always enjoyed making jewelry so about a year and half ago I created styles for myself and friends and family started asking for their own so hence a collection has been created.

What’s your ultimate dream for your company?
Brown Sugar Designs is temporarily feeding my creative juices while I work on completing my GIA degree, with the hopes of starting my own fine jewelry collection.  I do plan on  incorporating the two.

What do you sell?
Our hand crafted jewelry is elegant, uniquely one of a kind, sophisticated and inspired by the belief that your individuality is what makes you, YOU! Treat yourself to one without the hefty price, but you’ll never stop there, Brown Sugar is meant to fulfill your never ending sweet tooth! Dress our bracelets up for a formal occasion or use your imagination to create endless everyday looks. Our designs are made with semi-precious gemstones, rhinestones, mixed metals, wood, & whole lot of SUGAR!

What do you think of the DC Metropolitan Area style?
I think that DC has great style, we are such an international mecca that you really get a sense of style from all over the country.  Many would say that DC is still building its fashion credentials so the world needs to watch out!
